Our Rooms

Explore the Raintree and Magnolia rooms.

Enjoy one of our cozy, eccentric rooms here at Leather Leaf Inn. Choose between our Raintree Room (Queen-sized bed) and our Magnolia Room (King-sized bed). Each room is tailored to your comfort and enjoyment.

Raintree – Queen

This light, bright room with a cozy queen bed looks out at a Golden Raintree. William Maclure, Robert Owen’s professional partner in their utopian experiment New Harmony, brought back Golden Raintrees from Mexico in the mid 1880’s (ours isn’t quite that old). In this room is a built-in sink with mirror, closet, a small antique chest with marble top for clothing storage, and two small chairs. There is an overhead light/ceiling fan. Please feel free to unpack your bag and stow with the Innkeeper. A hair dryer and two wrap-style bathrobes will be provided for each room, if desired. This room can accommodate two adults comfortably. Upstairs shared bathroom with shower. Decorated in relaxing and inviting colors.

Our Happy Visitors

I loved my time at Suzy and Kent's lovely antique home-inn. It is impeccably clean and comfortable and within walking distance of so many of the historical sights in charming New Harmony. Suzy is an incredible cook and her breakfasts were delicious.

We definitely recommend the Leather Leaf Inn to anyone visiting New Harmony. Suzy checked a couple times before our visit to make sure all was well with our plans. She is a perfect BB host.

Our Story & New Harmony

The Leather Leaf Inn dates back to 1816-1817, where it originally served as a Harmonist textile industry during the age of the Harmonie Society, founded by a group of Separatists from the German Lutheran Church from Wurtemberg, Germany. In 1865, it was transformed into the Gothic Revival home you now see.  Fast forward to 2001, where proprietors Kent and Suzy Schuette purchased the home. They continue to restore and renovate this beautiful inn, one of New Harmony’s original structures – allowing visitors to experience the vivid history and culture of this national, historical landmark.

Prepare for an extraordinary stay in the heart of New Harmony. We can’t wait to share our stories with you!
